My Aunt Janice Pate unknowingly inspired this book with a simple yet profound suggestion: “You need to write about the rapture.” Her words stayed with me, but I was hesitant at first. So much has already been written on the topic, and I wasn’t sure I could add anything new by focusing on end-time events.
After completing my children’s book Acts of Kindness Begins With Me, I realized that the rapture is an important subject for a new book and it could be interesting if it was approached from a child’s perspective, offering a sense of comfort and understanding to other children.
My hope is that this book, Up, Up and Away with Jesus will help young hearts everywhere feel at peace with the idea of Heaven, whether through the rapture or death, and encourage them to approach it with love and courage rather than fear.
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
–1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
This book is available in English and Spanish.
